Why Union Bank Teams Dominate Lagos League —Coach

Chief Coach of Union Bank Table Tennis Club, Samson Ajayi, has revealed why their teams are dominating the ongoing Oba Oniru Lagos State Table Tennis League.

Teams from Union Bank are leading in both the men and women’s categories of the five weeks old league.

Ajayi, popularly known as Ope Iya Saka disclosed that regular trainings, exposure to competitions within and outside the country and good support from Union Bank management have been the secret behind the success of the teams.

“Everybody knows that Union Bank Table Tennis players play in many international competitions, which make them garner enough experience than their counterparts in the league.

Ajayi further said that his players are well motivated by the management, a gesture, which according to the coach deserves commendation.

Meanwhile, the the five teams representing Union Bank in the league are topping the table at the end of Week 5 matches.

Union Bank Team 1 are leading in the men’s category by 95 points, followed by Team 2 with 53 points. Team 3 are in the third position with 47 points, while Spring Fresh Team 1 and 2 are fourth and fifth with 28 and 23 points respectively.

In the women’s category, Union Bank’s Team 1 and 2 are first and second on the table with 70 and 50 points, while J30, Union Maritime and YET KAD Team 1 are in the third, fourth and fifth positions with 47, 35 and 20 points respectively.
