Support Lobi, Others, Glo Charges Fans

Leading telecoms company, Globacom, has called on football fans across the country to troop out en-masse and cheer their different teams to victory as the Federation Cup enters the round of 32 this weekend.

The company says clubs like Lobi Stars, Enyimba of Aba and other teams need fans’ support to make their games more competitive.

A statement by Globacom on Thursday encouraged fans to storm the stadia across the country and give full support to their teams.

The company said such glaring support would re-ignite the old glory associated with the competition.

“We support the efforts of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF to regenerate the golden era of Federation Cup and we believe that everybody from the administrators to the players and the fans must play his or her parts to bring back the glamour,” the statement said.

Globacom said it looks forward to memorable encounters in the round of 32 and hopes that the competition will live up to its billing of “giant killers” due to upsets usually recorded at this stage of the competition .

The Company also advised National team coaches to visit all match venues to discover fresh talents for Nigerian National teams, adding that most members of the National teams in the 70’s and early 80’s were discovered through the FA or Challenge Cup competitions.

Top matches to be played in the round of 32 of 2012 Federation Cup include: Lobi Stars of Markudi vs Niger Tornadoes of Minna, Enyimba of Aba vs Kogi United of Lokoja, Kaduna United vs Kano Pillars, Sunshine Stars vs Nasarawa United and Warri Wolves vs Sportlite FC.

Globacom is the major partner of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and official sponsor of the Nigerian National teams.
