Williams sisters win Women’s Doubles trophy

Serena Williams and her elder sister, Venus have won the second trophy in the ladies category at Wimbledon, clinching the Women’s Doubles trophy.

They beat sixth seeded Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic in two straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 in about 65 minutes.

It was the last match of the day in the centre court, played with the roof closed. It ended at 10.48 p.m.

The victory completed a perfect Saturday for the sisters, with Serena having won a fifth single’s crown and the doubles marked their 13 Grand Slam doubles triumph.

The sisters now have five Wimbledon doubles titles, four Australian Open, two US Open and two French Open doubles triumphs.
