Any athlete that violate any of the camp rules and directives will be sent packing from the camp of team Ogun as the officials have been directed not to be aiding any of them as the team will have no excuse to give if it fails to perform at the coming National Sports Festival in Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria.
This warning was given by one of the Senior officials of the Team Ogun when our correspondent visited the two stadiums where the athletes are currently camping to assess the level of their preparations ahead of the festival.
Preparations are in top gear at the camp of Team Ogun at both the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode and M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta as all the athletes in camp are training all days and night to ensure that they come out victorious during the forthcoming National Sports Festival, tagged,” Eko 2012″.
Speaking with our correspondent, Coach Ademola Okuwa who spoke on behalf of team Ogun officials expressed confidence in the athletes and promised that they will not disappoint the state government during the competition in Lagos.
According to him,”we are seriously training ahead of the competition,we have instructed all the athletes not to give room for any distractions as that may affects their performance and as well
give them some psychological deficiencies We are more than ready as the state will spring surprise at this year festival”, he boasted.
Over 400 athletes are currently undergoing training at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu Ode while 300 athletes are in Abeokuta.
The Team Ogun football, athletes, hockey, Ayo, Dambe,Taekwando and weighlifters are in camp at Ijebu Ode, while the ping pongers, boxers, handball and badminton players are in Abeokuta.
