Organisers of Eko Football Festival are working round the clock to receive former Manchester United of England player, Bryan Robson, ex-skipper of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, Lucas Radebe, former France international, Christian Karembeu and a host of others in Lagos, Nigeria for the event which will hold from 27-30 September.
Apart from the ex-footballers expected to grace the Festival scheduled for Eko Football Arena, Oniru Estate, Lekki, Portsmouth’s Academy team are also expected to take part in the event tagged “A convergence of football with the entertainment industry”.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos yesterday, Chairman of Lagos Football Association, Seyi Akinwunmi said that the festival would mark a new beginning in football tournaments in the country and the world. He said the entertainment aspect of the event will feature some household names in the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
Some of the artistes are Wizkid, Naeto C, Wande Coal, Sasha and May D.
Akinwunmi also hinted that there would be series of novelty matches that would be played in the U-13, U-15, and U-17 levels.
