FC Corinthians’ll Play In Nigerian League Someday

After FC Corinthians emerged winners of this year’s Corporate Cup, chief coach of FC Corinthians, Godwin Anowai spoke with Grassroots Soccer Guide.

Your team have won this year’s Corporate Cup, how do you feel?

I feel great and better because nobody gave us a chance when we started the competition two months ago. We taught our opponents, Liberty FC how to play football and the victory was well deserved.

How would you rate your team’s performance in the tournament?

My team did very  well in all their matches. Our final match against Liberty FC was a clear indication that we really prepared well for the tournament.

When did you form FC Corinthians?

The club was formed in 1997 with 27 players but today we can count at least 50 players in the club.

How many trophies has the club won since inception?

The club have achieved a lot in the last few years. We won Commander’s Cup in 2005 and won seven trophies in 2007. I can say that FC Corinthians are one of the best clubs in Alimosho Local Government.

Where do you see the club in the nearest future? 

Our target is to play in Nigerian professional league someday. We have been in grassroots competitions more than a decade and it is time for the club to move higher.
