As the rest of the country gather in Lagos State for the 18th National Sports Festival billed to begin later this month, Secretary General of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, Eko 2012, Kweku Tandoh, has reiteriated the earlier promise of the hosting state to make the sports fiesta a showpiece.
Speaking on the games billed to hold from 27 November to 9 December, Tandoh hinted that the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fasola, is ready to give whatever assistance needed to make the games a spectacular one.
“The earlier stance of the Lagos State Government to make the coming games a spectacular event has not changed. The governor has always made sure that the LOC gets whatever it needs to package an excellent sports festival for the rest of Nigeria,” said Tandoh.
“Preparation for the games is in top gear because we want to give to Nigeriasns a kind of games that they will remember for a long time. We will make sure that we leave no stone unturned in order to make the games a success.”
The LOC scribe said further that there is no cause for alarm, adding that the Lagos State Government is prepared to do its utmost to make the games a success.
“I don’t think Lagosians have any cause to lose their sleep while wondering whether the LOC is able to package a successful sports festival. I want to use this opportunity to assure Nigerians that Lagos State, as the Centre of Ecellence, has the wherewithal to stage an excellent event.
“We have put in place the necessary structures that are needed at all the venues that will be used for the games. We are ready to give our best so that the sports loving Nigerians can have a great time during the games,” Tandoh assured Nigerians.
