Sports Festival: Jordan Storms Lagos

In a bid to ensure that the 2012 National Sports Festival, tagged ‘Eko 2012’, is a spectacular one, the Local Organising Committee, LOC, of the Games has invited the Chief Executive Officer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Danny Jordan to Lagos State.

This disclosure was made yesterday by the LOC Secretary General, Kweku Tandoh, while addressing newsmen during the unveiling of directory for the Games at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

According to Tandoh, for Lagos State to reap the benefits of hosting a sporting event in the magnitude of the National Festival, reputable and experienced speakers from diverse backgrounds have been invited to share their experience.

He said: “It is our duty to host a National Sports Festival that would be the best of the rest. But I can also inform you that it is the responsibility of the Lagos State Government to ensure that we reap all the benefits of hosting a sporting event of such magnitude. Hence, we have invited renowned personalities that have had the experience of hosting a profitable sporting events in the past to a one day pre-Games seminar, holding at the Muson Centre in Onikan. Lagos on 22 November, 2012.”

Some of the speakers invited for the seminar include, the LOC Chairman of 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Danny Jordan, Co-ordinator of London 2012 Inspiration Programme in Nigeria, Sephora Imomoh, Head of Department of Sports at University of Kent, United Kingdom, Sakis Pappous and the Director of the Department of International Co-operation and Development at the International Olympics Committee, IOC, T.A Ganda Sithloe.
