Technical Director of Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria, KFN, Emmanuel Peters has restated the federation’s determination to ensure that the rules of the sport were strictly adhered to at the upcoming 2012 National Sports Festival in Lagos.

Peters, who said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, urged the technical officials of Games to ensure total compliance to the rules.

He said further that doing so would eliminate all forms of argument from the athletes and spectators alike.

“We are not going to accommodate any irregularity during the festival; this is the reason I am reminding those that would be selected to officiate at the Games to be faithful,’’ the director said.

According to Peters, only athletes who fought according to the rules would be awarded points.

“I expect athletes to fight within the specific rules because their compliance will be used to judge their performances as there will be no preferential treatment,’’ he said.

Peters recalled that a three-day refreshers course that was organized recently by the federation was held to update kickboxing officials on the current rules to be applied at the festival.

“We had a three-day refreshers course conducted by resource persons who are certified by the international body to make sure that our officials are acquainted with the rules.

“The course included oral, written and practical sessions because we used the avenues to test their ability and to confirm their readiness for the festival,” he said.
