Skipper of the Kaduna State male hockey team, Allu Daniel, has said that his side will go all the way to win the gold medal that is at stake in the male hockey event at the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival tagged ‘Eko 2012’.

Daniel told P.M. News that Team Kaduna can still win a gold medal in the male hockey event despite playing a goaless draw with Team Rivers in their opening group game.

“I know that we are going to win the gold medal that is at stake in this event because that is what we have come to do at this festival. We are a determined team and we will make sure that we come out as the overall winner of this event,” said Daniel.

“We worked very hard during our preparation for this games because we know that it is not easy to win a gold medal in an event of this magnitude. And I have been very happy with our performance so far because the hard work is already paying off.”

However, Daniel is worried that his team are not familiar with the turf on which they are playing their games, adding that they did their training on a syntthetic pitch.

“The only problem that we are confronting at this games is the pitch that we are using. We trained on an Astro Turf during our preparation and not this kind of pitch that we are using in this competition,” said Daniel.
