Aina Ojo, the Head Coach of Squash Racquets, Team Ondo, is happy for contributing to the state winning a gold medal in the Squash event.

Team Ondo on Sunday won a gold medal from the Squash racquets in the women’s team event at the National Sports Festival (NSF) in Lagos.

According to Ojo, the state will still win more gold medals from squash racquets.

“I am happy to win the first gold medal for the state. We prepared very hard before the festival and I am not surprised at the results.

Meanwhile, Femi Ajagbe, President of Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF), has stressed that a player becomes automatically ineligible to participate in the National Sports Festival (NSF), after participating in three previous editions.

Ajagbe said that the rule remains unchanged, against the backdrop of a protest embarked upon by Team Abia and Team Rivers at the Games.

Some of the players from the two states were said to be ineligible for the team events in the sport.

“There was an initial fracas, but the issue has been resolved in accordance with the NSF rules which state that a team or player becomes ineligible after featuring thrice. The only reason a player can play is if he leaves the sport for another,” the President said.
