‘Team Taraba To Prepare For Calabar 2014’

The Coach of Taraba female football team, Lasisi Salihu, said that their presence at the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival in Lagos was to prepare them for Calabar 2014.

Salihu said moments after his team lost 1-5 to Team Benue in the Group B preliminaries of the event at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

“Although, we are mercilessly beaten with only a goal to reply, I am not much bothered because this is our major outing.

“This is our major competition after the zonal elimination and I strongly believe my girls will do better in the next edition,“ he said.

Team Benue would have recorded more goals during the match, but most of its shots were off target. Benue, however, was able to hit the target in the 7th, 22th, 25th, 71th and 85th minutes while Taraba scored its only goal in the 61th minute.

Benue Coach, Emmanuel Orkaah, expressed joy at the outcome of the match.

Orkaah said that although, they were already out of the competition, his team was the only club to record more goals so far in a single match.

“My girls tried their best but were not lucky in the competition. Most of my players also had injuries during the zonal elimination,” he said.
