The Australian Open is going to be a must-watch event from start to finish.

With the superstars spread out across the massive field, the first few rounds of this major tournament aren’t always filled with much intrigue.

But as the draw was unveiled early today, it became apparent that even the opening days would provide some captivating battles with most of the top stars drawn to face rookies.

Roger Federer will face Benoit Paire, Andy Murray, the US Open champion will take on world Number 54 Robin Haase of the Netherlands in the first round.

Novak Djokovic will battle Paul-Henri Mathieu of France. David Ferrer of Spain will take on Olivier Rochus from Belgium. Czech’s Tomas Berdych will battle American Michael Russell.

In the Women’s Singles, top seed Victoria Azarenka will face Monica Niculescu. Maria Sharapova has a score to settle with Olga Puchkova of Russia, while American star, Serena Williams battles Romania’s Edina Gallovits-Hall in the first round matches.
