Nigeria plans Friendly With England

The Federal Government is organising a friendly match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Three Lions of England.

This is contained in a document prepared by the Centenary Celebrations Project Committee, headed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

The match, billed to hold in Abuja in February 2014, is part of celebrations to mark the centenary of Nigeria.

Also on the cards is a friendly with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The decayed National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, southwest Nigeria may benefit from the celebrations, as the Federal Government has included the renovation of major sports facilities, and building of new ones in each of the federal universities in the country in the Centenary Celebrations Project.

Government also plans to build and fully equip a modern sports hospital offering “five-star” services in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Also to be built in Abuja are a mini-stadium and a signature golf course.
