The Badminton Section of Lagos Country Club, Ikeja will be agog when it plays host to the Cleanserve Inter-Club Badminton Championship between 22 and 23 March.
Badminton players at the Lagos Country Club will be fighting for honours with players from clubs such as Ikoyi Club 1938, Makurdi Club 1930, Badminton Exclusive Club Kaduna, Shell Club Warri, and Indian Community Badminton Club in the two days tournament.
P.M.NEWS Sports gathered that players will feature in categories such as Gold – 2 teams; Silver – 3 teams; Veteran – 2 teams in Doubles tournament. The games start by 5 pm on Friday and events round off with prize presentation and a closing party to be organised by One Management Limited on Saturday. Celebrated top stars are expected to perform live at the event.
The maiden competition, which is sponsored by Cleanserve Limited, is aimed at repositioning and popularising badminton in the country.
The Inspector-General of Police, MD Abubakar, an avid badminton player has been invited as the Special Guest of Honour, while the AIG Zone 2 of Nigeria Police is the Guest of Honour.
The Chairman, Lagos State Badminton Federation is also expected to grace the event.
