Foundation Cricket Club of Lagos defeated their arch rivals GCI Cricket Club of Ibadan by 2 wickets in an explosive encounter of the second stanza of the Iris Smart Club Cricket Committee League at the TBS cricket oval.
FCC won the toss and chased. GCI batted first and scored 116 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 34.5 overs. Tayo Atoloye scored 27 runs off 37 balls in 44 mimnutes, Chimeze Onwuzulike had 24 runs off 33 balls in 45 minutes, Seun Odeku scored 20 runs off 35 balls in 51 minutes, while Wale Adeoye had 12 runs off 49 balls in 58 minutes.
From the bowling side, Joshua Ogunlola took 3 wickets for 8 runs in 6.5 overs, Femi Oduyebo took 3 wickets for 23 runs in 7 overs, Kehinde Olabiwonninu had 20 wickets for 24 runs in 8 overs, while FCC captain, Kunle Adegbola got a wickets for 28 runs in 7 overs.
In the second innings, FCC scored 118 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 32.1 overs, Kehinde Olbiwonninu got 26 runs not out off 59 runs balls in 92 minutes, Dolapo Gafar played 20 runs off 31 balls in 56 minutes, Kunle Adegbola had 16 runs off 21 balls in 46 minutes, while Segun Olayinka scored 12 runs off 17 balls in 24 minutes.
From the bowling side, GCI, Seun Odeku got a superlative 4 wickets for 44 runs in overs, Chimeze Onwuzulike got 2 wickets for 19 runs in 8 overs, while Gbenga Oladele and Sesan Odeji each wicket was not enough to triumph FCC in that explosive encounter which made FCC to be 2 wickets ahead of their opponents.
After the encounter, FCC’s Kehinde Olabiwonninu thanked God for the victory. “I give God all the glory for this victory because beating FGC was not a small task despite our wonderful starting,” he said.
The Nigerian international boasted that FCC is ready to end the unbeaten record of Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club next week when they clash in the ongoing league.
