Lagos FA Cup: Bridge Boys Beat Messiah FC

Bridge Boys Football Club of Lagos early today booked  a place in the Round of 16 of the ongoing Lagos State Challenge Cup after they beat Messiah FC of Agege 2-1 in the second round of the competition.

Sunday Akintoye reports that the grudge tie, which was played at Agege Stadium saw Friday Idara scoring the first goal for Bridge Boys in the 6th minute.

Messiah FC, who came to stadium with a large number of their fans equalised when Odili Tosin netted a goal a minute later to send their fans into wild jubilation.

Bridge Boys raised their game in the second half as they dominated the match. The pressure was too much for Messiah who appeared tired and heavy in the second half.

The effort of Bridge Boys paid off when Ismail Balogun fired a shot to beat Messiah’s goalkeeper, Festus Ehiabhi in the 80th minute to silence Messiah fans.

In other match 3 Pillars beat Fame FC 5-2 through penalty shoots at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos after they played 0-0 in the regulation time.
