Enugu Rangers of Nigeria have booked a place in the group phase of the CAF Confederations Cup following a resolute defensive play against Tunisian champions CS Sfaxien on Sunday which saw them securing a 0-0 draw in the second leg round of 16 clash.
The Flying Antelopes who had won the first leg 1-0 a fortnight ago in Enugu thus progressed with a 1-0 aggregate.
Sunday’s progress was hard earned for Rangers who encountered several setbacks before the crucial second leg clash.
Apart from losing four of their key players to the Super Eagles and one other one to the Flying Eagles camp, injury and card offenses saw Rangers traveling to Tunisia with a highly depleted squad.
However against all odds, Rangers saw-off the challenge posed by their host and thus kept Nigeria’s flag flying in Africa’s club competition.
