Commonwealth Games: ‘Nigeria On Course For Glasgow 2014’

Ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Gbenga Elegbeleye has assured that the country has already begun preparations for the world tournament.

Elegbeleye stated that the sports federations are currently participating in some championships, which will serve as part of their preparations.

‘’Already we are preparing as we have competitions that our teams are participating in, some are in camp ahead of some African championships. All these are signs of preparation for the Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Gen. KTJ Minimah has revealed that he is looking forward to putting the country on the medals table as well as placing the nation on the map in international boxing tournaments.

Nigeria will participate in six events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The events are Boxing, Athletics, Weight-lifting, Para-athletics, Taekwondo and Shooting in both male and female categories.
