O’jez, the celebrity hangout chain, recently opened a new outlet in Ikeja, Lagos, with a mini-concert during which Majek Fashek, Nigeria’s king of reggae, stole the show.
Majek, who came in company of Alhaja Aminat Oluwaremilekun Dangaji, factional President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, midway into the event, received cheers from the large crowd in the cozy bowel of the new celebrity restaurant.
When actor Charles Inojie who anchored the event formally introduced Majek, the show took another dimension. Majek, who had been reported to have2 had some health challenges, initially said he was not in the mood to perform but the crowd won’t have any of that.
The Reggae star took over the piano and did a solo rendition of one of his hits. As he made to leave, the crowd again resisted his move so he had to pacify them with his greatest hits of all time, Send Down The Rain.
He had to stretch the song a bit longer to further pacify the thirsty audience before the fast rising comedian Elder O took over.
Stars present at the event included Zach and Ngozi Orji, Ejike Asiegbu, Leo Mezie, Okey Bakassi and Victor Osuagwu.
