With the number of matches in their kitty dwindling down into single digit, this weekend pivotal’s London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge will be yet another edge-of-the-seat chapter in the exhilarating book that is the Barcalay’s Premier League season 2013/14. Both teams will be going into this game with the knowledge that a win will go a long way in re-establishing some semblance of control of their own destiny, while a loss may prove to be too big a hurdle to overcome in what is to be their final dash this season.

Chelsea’s slip up against Aston Villa meant Arsenal reduced the gap at the top to four points, following their win over Tottenham, with a game in hand.

The Blues have been dominant at Stamford Bridge throughout the season, and are yet to drop points against the “Big Four” at home. The self proclaimed ‘Special One’ boasts an unbeaten record against Wenger in all competitions, and would look to extend the winning streak over his French counterpart. On the other hand, the Arsenal boss would be hoping his side replicates their performance at White Hart Lane, and reflect a first defeat for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge under Mourinho’s tutelage.

Arsene Wenger has urged his Arsenal players to stay mentally strong as they enter the final stage of the “best title race” battle in living memory.

But with his team facing Jose Mourinho’s side on Saturday at Stamford Bridge, Swansea on Tuesday and Manchester City next week, Wenger feels they are about to jump their last big hurdles.

“It’s a fact that every game is so demanding that as soon as you have a little bit less mental energy, you are in danger,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “I have said since January that the most consistent team will win it in the end.

“There is a feeling that if we get through these games, it will strengthen the belief and determination of the team.

“That will be massive. If we get through well these next games, it will be a big part in Arsenal’s title hopes.”
