Ekiti election: Fayose avoids TV debate

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose has declined participation in the Live television debate organised for the candidates.

The governorship election will take place on Saturday 21 June but the TV debate organised by a coalition of youth organisations, Enough is Enough is scheduled for Sunday 1 June.

Only three of the leading candidates will now participate.

They are the APC candidate, Governor Kayode Fayemi, the LP candidate, Opeyemi Bamidele and the Accord Party torchbearer, Kole Ajayi.

This continues EiE’s tradition of hosting youth-focused debates, having co-hosted the first youth-focused presidential debate in the country in 2011. It has since hosted debates in Cross River and Anambra (in partnership with Channels TV).

Candidates are expected to make public their plans for Ekiti youth. The debate will be aired live on EKTV, NTA Ekiti & TVC.
