Rauf Aregbesola has been reelected governor of Osun State. The All Progressives Congress candidate beat his closest rival Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by over 100, 000 votes. Aregbesola was announced winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), early Sunday. He polled 394,684 votes in 30 local government area (LGA) votes counted by INEC. Omisore who won eight LGAs garnered 292,747 votes to finish second while Fatai Akinbade of the Labour Party finished a distant third with 8, 898 votes.
