Jimi Agbaje and Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, respectively would sign a “Peace Pledge” on Monday ahead of the 28 February governorship election, the United States Consulate in Lagos said on Wednesday.
The Peace Pledge signing ceremony by the two leading Lagos gubernatorial candidates and religious community leaders will take place at the U.S. Consul General’s Residence in Ikoyi.
The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria James F. Entwistle and Consul General Jeffrey Hawkins will jointly convene a roundtable discussion with the two gubernatorial candidates, religious leaders, and the Lagos Resident Electoral Commissioner to emphasize the importance of non-violence before, during, and after the elections.
“Following the discussions, there will be a press conference,” the Consulate said.
