The police in Benin has arrested a 25-year-old man, Ekuase Sunday, for arranging the kidnap of his girlfriend for telling him that the relationship was over.
The suspect however blamed his friend who’s name he gave simply as Amas, for luring him to carry out the act in order to teach the girl how not to ditch a guy.
Sunday who was among the 43 suspects paraded by the Edo State Police Command on Friday, said he was surprised when the girl told him that their relationship was over.
“Amas said it would be unfair for the girl to break my heart. We agreed that we will take the girl for four days so that she would learn a lesson.
“I went to to their house and was told four guys came to take her away. I went to the family house and I was arrested and up till now I have not seen Amas.”
In another incident, a farmer who’s name was give simply as Obozoke, was arrested for killing 58 year-old Omoniyi Oguare whom he caught harvesting his cocoa seeds in his farm.
Police sources had it that Obozoke engaged the deceased in a fight in which both of them sustained deep machete cuts. The suspect however overpowered his victim and cut him two times on the head, which eventually resulted in his death.
The state commissioner of police, Foluso Adebanjo, said all the suspects will soon appear in court after the completion of investigation.
