The Gombe State Police Command has arrested 28 suspected criminals for various offences.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Fwaje Atajiri, said this in an interview with news men in Gombe on Tuesday.
He said that the suspects were arrested in different locations after they had committed the offences.
Atajiri said that four out of them were arrested in connection with murder while five others had earlier been charged to court.
He added that some were social miscreants who had been terrorising people between 6p.m. and 4a.m. as well as snatching people’s phones, jewellery and other valuables.
“Some of them were engaged in attacking people, stealing their handsets, money, jewellery and other valuables while others were raping young women,” he said.
He said the police succeeded in arresting the suspects by engaging in intelligence gathering to locate their hideouts.
The spokesman called on the public to assist the command with useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals.
