Security guard docked for raping employer's 7-year-old daughter

A 20-year-old security guard, Abass Haman, who allegedly raped his employer’s seven-year-old daughter, was on Tuesday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, who lives in the gatehouse of his employers’ compound at Plot 20/ 21, Fiyin Dammy St., Magodo, Lagos, is facing a charge of rape.

Prosecutor Jimah Iseghede told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 3 at his employer’s residence.

According to Sgt. Iseghede, the accused forced the seven-year-old girl and had carnal knowledge of her.

“The victim narrated her ordeal to her friend and her mother was later informed.

“The accused was then apprehended by the police,” he said.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 258 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 258 (1) prescribes life imprisonment for rape.

The accused, however, denied the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, adjourned the case till 30 Sept. for ruling on the bail application.
