Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, has commiserated with the family, the Igala Nation, government and the entire people of Kogi State on the sudden death of Prince Abubakar Audu, the first Executive Governor of the state.

In a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Governor Okowa described Audu’s sudden death as a great setback to the state’s democratic experiment.

Governor Okowa who said that Prince Audu will be missed for the flamboyancy and never-say-die spirit of his style of politics, noted that his life is an example of belief in fair democratic contest.

“His doggedness is attested to by the number of times he offered to serve his state after his second coming as the second Executive Governor in 2003. Although he did not win on these other occasions, his faith in democratic process never waned until his death,” Okowa said.

While praying that God grant Audu’s soul eternal repose, Senator Okowa urged his party and followers to bear his loss with equanimity as Audu’s contributions to the growth and stability of Kogi state and the nation are too evident to be diminished by his exit.
