The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT has shifted the date for the commencement of the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki on charges of false assets declaration from 10 to 11 March, 2016, Ibraheem Al-hassan, Head, Press & Public Relations of Tribunal said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to CCT, the shift in date followed the acceptance of request for it by Kanu Agabi, the new lead counsel to the Senate President.

According to him, the lead Counsel to Saraki had in the letter applied that the matter which is now scheduled to come up on the 10th day of March 2016, subject to the convenience of the Honourable Tribunal and learned Counsel for the prosecution, be taken on the 11th day of March, 2016.

The lawyer said this was due to his earlier and urgent commitments in other courts on 10, March.

“Danladi Yakubu Umar, has today acceded to the request of the Senate President Dr Olubukola Abubakar Saraki, through his lead defence Counsel, Kanu G. Agabi (SAN), to reschedule the hitherto fixed 10TH/3/2016 to 11th /3/ 2016 for hearing at the Tribunal.

“This request for the shift in date was contained in a letter signed by Kanu G. Agabi (SAN), CON, forwarded to the Tribunal, dated 26thFebruary, 2016, with the heading Re: charge No. CCT/ABJ/01/2015- FRN V Dr Olubukola Abubakar Saraki, addressed to the Chief Registrar of the CCT,” Al-Hassan said in the statement.
