A motorcycle thief, 31-year old Gideon Olonade, is to spend the next four years in prison, an Osun court ruled on Monday.

A Chief Magistrates’ Court, Modakeke in Ife North-East of Osun gave the verdict after Olonade pleaded guilty to the charge.

Olonade, whose address is unknown, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Bose Awosan on June 6 on a charge of stealing.

The magistrate said the sentence was without an option of fine to serve as a deterrent to others.

She ordered that the convict should be taken to the Ile-Ife Prisons to serve his jail term.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sergeant Ona Glory told the court that Olonade committed the offence on May 14 at Oke-Owu compound in Modakeke.

The accused had stolen a motorcycle with registration No. (Ogun) MEK 866 QB, valued at N70,000, property of a man, Abiodun Olaposi.

The offence contravened Sections 383 (2) and 390 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun.
