The Sokoto State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday, paraded two suspects for allegedly being in possession of fake N3 million Naira notes.

The Commandant of the command, Mr Babangida Aliyu, who paraded the suspects, told newsmen that the suspects were arrested on Wednesday night at the Tudun-Wada area of the Sokoto metropolis.

All the money was in fake N1, 000 denominations.

Aliyu gave their names as 50-year-old Aliyu Dahiru, who hailed from Potiskum in Yobe State, as well as 30-year-old Adamu Abdullahi, from Dandume in Katsina State.

He said: “They were said to have come to Sokoto to spend the fake currencies and they had already spent N300, 000.

“We got an intelligence report, swung into action and we were lucky to have been able to arrest the suspects.

“They have all admitted guilt and we will charge them to court today.

Aliyu appealed to residents of the Sokoto metropolis to be cautious while transacting businesses with unknown and suspicious persons.

Meanwhile, the command has also arrested a 25-year old man, Uzairu Abdullahi, for allegedly amputating all the limbs and arms of one Shafi’u Ayuba.

Aliyu said: “The suspect, along with four others now at large, allegedly committed the offence on Sept. 27, this year.

“He led the gang and committed the offence only some 16 days after he was released from the Sokoto Central Prisons, for a previous infraction.

“We will also charge him to court today, while we continue striving to apprehend other fleeing suspects.’’
