The police in Ogun on Tuesday advised residents to be vigilant during the Easter celebration in order to check crime.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, Mr Bimbola Oyeyemi, gave the advice in Ota.

“Security in the state is everybody’s business because the police cannot be everywhere all the time,’’ he said.

Oyeyemi also implored residents to report any strange movement or gathering that may constitute a security challenge.

He disclosed that the police would deploy more personnel across the state during the festive period.

“The police do not normally wait for a festive period before putting security arrangement in place because crime is being committed every day, ”he added.

Oyeyemi described Ogun as a peculiar state sharing a border with Benin Republic with the attendant security challenges.

”For this reason, the large number of police personnel will be deployed to the borders to check the activities of miscreants, ” he said.

Oyeyemi further said that some of its personnel would be deployed in churches, noting that many of the worship houses have their headquarters in the state.
