Nigerians residence in Sierra Leone have promised to abide by their residing country’s Electoral Law restricting foreigner from participating in the voting process.

Some of the residents who spoke with newsmen on Tuesday in Freetown promised to promote peace in the country.

Apostle Chuks Obi said that as a Nigerian he would obey the directive from the Nigeria High Commissioner that they should not interrupt the electoral process.

“Last time we were in Nigeria Embassy in Freetown and we were in a meeting with the High Commissioner and we received a warm advice.

“There are some people in the country that have been nationalised, they can vote.

“We are also been advised to stay calm. If you are not voting stay in your house, be listening to the report of the elections. We are okay we don’t have problem with that,’’ he said.

Obi advised other Nigerians not to be involved in violence but to obey the directive from the Nigerian Ambassador.

“My advice to them is that they should not to be involved in violence. We should give our support to whoever emerges as the next Sierra Leone President, just as we have been doing.’’

Mr Emmanuel Nwosu, a businessman, said he was aware that as a foreigner he has no right to vote and that he would not violate such laws.

“ We are foreigners living in this country. As foreigners we don’t have the right to vote.

“We just have to maintain peace and watch the procedure. I believe they will have a peaceful election tomorrow by the grace of God,’’ Nwosu said.

He added that he wish all Sierra Leoneans successful elections, prayed God to direct them to elect their next president.

Mr Kehinde Afolabi also pledged that he would be a law abiding Nigerian and look forward to the peace and development of Sierra Leone.

Other Nigerian in the country who spoke with newsmen prayed for the success of the election as they pledged to be law abiding.
