Top managers of two football clubs in Bayelsa on Friday in Yenagoa said their teams were ready for repositioning for improved performances in their respective league competitions.

The Chairmen of Bayelsa United FC and Bayelsa Queens, at a press conference organised by the clubs, assured that they would win honours in the upcoming season.

Bayelsa United are campaigning in the 2017/2018 Nigeria National League (NNL), while Bayelsa Queens are campaigning in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

The two officials also unveiled their clubs’ new jerseys as one of the moves to rebrand the clubs ahead of their league games.

Tony Ogola, Chairman of Bayelsa United, said the new jerseys were an indication of the readiness for a new dawn for the club.

“We however need media support and we promise to be having quarterly media chat as part of the efforts to promote the club and players,’’ he said.

Also speaking, Timitimi Ebiki, Chairman of Bayelsa Queens, said the women football club has set a road map to get to the top in the forthcoming NWFL season.

“Most of our players are doing well. Some of them also featured in national and international competitions and I hope we will get to the top next season.

“Our challenge has been poor sponsorship opportunities, because the government cannot do it alone. We need people like philanthropists to help move the state-owned football clubs forward.

“We hope to work with the media because this is the group which can help us to sell our clubs and players to the outside world,” Ebiki said.

Speaking also, Alambo Datonye, the Chairman of Bayelsa Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), commended the two clubs on their “move to rebuild and rebrand the system for better performance’’.
