Manchester United defender Raphael Varane limped off in the 38th minute at Bergamo’s Gewiss Stadium in the Champions League match against Atalanta.
He was replaced by Mason Greenwood.
The France international and former Madrid player had just made a return from groin injury.
He took part in the game against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Now he is a doubt for the United derby with Manchester City on Saturday.
The nature of his injury is not known.
But after he sat down on the pitch, he had some discussion with the United medical staff.
He then walked straight off the pitch and down the tunnel, being replaced by Greenwood.
United will be hoping that his premature departure from the match will prove to be nothing too serious.
