The Ewusi of Makun-Kingdom in Sagamu Area of Ogun State, Oba Timothy Akinsanya, has given the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led government a seven-day ultimatum over alleged land invasion by land grabbers.

Oba Akinsanya gave the ultimatum while addressing newsmen in his palace in Sagamu, according to Punch.

He threatened to lead a protest that will shut major roads in the Sagamu area if the state government fails to come to their aid after the ultimatum.

The traditional ruler lamented that some land grabbers invaded communities in Makun with dangerous weapons and injured residents.

The monarch lamented that the people living in Okerala, Oko-Iwaju, Kanuyi, Ipa villages, among others were being terrorised, dehumanised and maimed by the criminals.

He complained that several efforts to get the attention of the government to save the affected communities were not successful.

He said, “We are not threatening, it is a statement of fact. We have demonstrated to the Akarigbo’s palace. We have been to the House of Assembly, but they are taking it lightly. Enough is enough, my people cannot continue to run from home. After seven days, we are not going to take it lightly

“I have been begging my people not to put the law into their hands, but now I am going lead them.

“We shall be staging a peaceful protest that shall lockdown Sagamu township in the next seven days if our government fails to act accordingly to forestall likely reprisal from our community.

“In the same vein, we urge the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force to do all that is in his capacity to ensure that a looming communal clash that may further threaten our peaceful co-existence is being abated.”
