The emergency trial of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is set to begin in a Federal High Court.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who led Kanu’s legal team, and Shuaibu Labaran who is expected to appear for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) are already seated for the proceeding.

The IPOB leader, who is facing a terrorism charge, is yet to be brought to the court as of 9:54 am.

However, members of the media are also on the ground for the coverage.

Last month, the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court adjourned the trial of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu until January 19, 2022.

Mr. Kanu, who has been agitating for the South-East secession, was arrested in June in Nairobi, Kenya.

The separatist leader faces a seven-count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari.

The separatist leader through Radio Biafra had been pushing a narrative that an impostor allegedly called “Jibrin of Sudan” occupied the presidential seat in the stead of Buhari.
