Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, has slammed those criticising Paris Saint-Germain star man, Lionel Messi, saying they do not know football.
This is despite Messi’s slow start to life in Paris Saint-Germain after he joined the French side last summer.
Messi dumped Barcelona for PSG in the summer, bringing an end to his glittering spell at Camp Nou.
But the Argentine superstar has not really found his feet in Paris, scoring just one goal in 11 league games and has faced criticisms over his performances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Benzema thinks Messi is merely going through a ‘period of adaptation’ at his new club, having spent all his life at Barcelona.
“How won’t he succeed? It is just a period of adaptation, because he is not scoring a lot of goals,’ Benzema told TF1.
“But watch what he does on the pitch.
“In any case, you cannot criticise a player like that, he who criticises Messi, knows nothing about football in fact!”
