Mandatory challenger for the WBC Heavyweight title, Dillian Whyte has at last put pen on paper to fight WBC Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury.
The fight comes up April 23, 2022.
Whyte was being awaited to sign the contract for the fight which terminates today at 6.00am and he beats the deadline to sign to fight Fury, The Gypsy King.
Fury claimed the WBC belt from the Bronze Bomber, Deontay Wilder in February 2020 through knockout. He also knocked out Wilder in the rematch last year.
Whyte has been the mandatory challenger but has been reluctant to put pen on paper because of the meagre $8m he will get from the £30m contract.
After Whyte signed the contract, Fury took to his Instastory to cast aspersion on him.
“Oh my God. Dillian Whyte’s signed his contract for $8m. What a surprise! An absolute idiot. Should this even be a talking point? The man signed, for the biggest payday he’s ever going to get in his life,” he said.
Whyte last fought 11 months ago, avenging a shock defeat to Russian veteran Alexander Povetkin in Gibraltar.
The 33-year-old British boxer had held the WBC interim heavyweight title since March 2021, having previously held the title from 2019 to 2020.
