Edo chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has said it will not participate in the State 19 April, 2022 Local Government Council election.

Recall that the State government recently inaugurated the election umpire, Edo State Independent Election Commission (EDSIEC).

But State Publicity Secretary of APC, Peter Uwadiae, in a statement on Tuesday gave two reasons why his party will not be part of the much anticipated council election.

According to Uwadiae, fund for the conduct of the election was not captured in the State 2022 Appropriation Law.

He further alleged violation in amendment of Edo State electoral law by the legislative arm, which reduced the number of days for campaign as enshrined in the electoral Act.

According to Uwadiae, “The Edo state House of Assembly lacks required numbers to amend the section of the electoral law.

“Once there is a conflict between State electoral law and Electoral Act, that of the Act stays.”

He, however, stated that the legal team of the party is yet to take a decision the issue.
