A Senatorial aspirant in Kogi State, Mr. Christopher Oni has said that the desire for infrastructure development and improved general quality of life for the citizens are the motivations for his political activities.

Oni, who is in the race to represent Kogi West in the upper legislative chamber on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC. made this known in a chat with TheNews/PM NEWS.

He painted an appalling State of underdevelopment in Kogi West, noting that there is a limit to what extent personal resources can be deployed for public services.

“My motivation and attraction to politics has been about the people. I have done enough as an individual but you know one needs the support of relevant institutions to really reach out far and wide.

Oni explained that the quest to touch an expanded area of the populace has been his driving force. “Contesting for the position of the Kogi west senator is basically what I feel will afford me the opportunity to do more as I will have access to relevant agencies that has direct bearing on the lives of the people we seek to represent.

He added that he intends using political office to attract democratic dividends to the people in a more positive and sustainable way.

The National Assembly hopeful said as grassroots politician, he is familiar with the people, their challenges and he will harmonise his vast corporate and private sector experience to move Kogi West forward.

“I’m bringing on board fresh ideas, fresh approach and a new dimension towards the resolution of our common problems as a people. I have the prerequisites and capacity to make a difference as far as quality representation is in this 21st century. We shall be approaching issues using modern approaches and I am sure our people shall be totally liberated from the past when we come on board,” Oni said.

Oni, a banker commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the political parties for diligently following the electoral timetable in the build up to the imminent 2023 polls.
