Liverpool on Saturday beat Premier League champions, Manchester City 3-1 to win the Community Shield after 16 years.
The FA Cup champions opened scoring through Trent Alexander-Arnold after receiving a good pass on the edge of the 18-yard box and unleashed a shot that went in off the left post beyond the goalkeeper.
City equalied on 72 minutes through Julian Alvarez.
He was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball low inside the left post.
Mohamed Salah made it 2-1 for Liverpool from the penalty spot. He put the ball into the bottom right corner past the outstretched arm of Ederson.
The Red compounded City’s misery on added time as Darwin Nunez netted the third goal.
He leapt to meet a deep cross and nodded the ball inside the middle of the net, past the helpless goalkeeper.
