Netherlands thrashed the United States of America 3-1 on Saturday to move into the quarter-finals of the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.
Memphis Depay opened scoring for the Dutch few minutes into the first half after a great play by Denzel Dumfries.
He released Depay in space on the edge of the box. He spotted the keeper off his line and coolly put the ball into the left side of the goal.
The European side added a second goal on first half added time. Daley Blind took a short pass from Denzel Dumfries in his stride in the box, jinxed inside his man and unleashes an unstoppable shot inside the left post.
On 54th minute, Giovanni Reyna played the ball through an opponent’s legs to Weston McKennie, who shot from the edge of the box. The keeper scrambled across his line but the shot rose just over the bar.
USA pulled one back on 76th minute from a superb work from Christian Pulisic, who played a vital role in the build-up. He squared it to Haji Wright, who beat Andries Noppert with a brilliant shot into the left side of the net.
The Netherlands made it 3-1 o 81st minute. Denzel Dumfries met a perfect cross from Daley Blind deep inside the box and controlled it with a nice first touch. He produced an accurate strike inside the left post.
