Red-hot Kylian Mbappe hit a brace on Sunday as defending champions, France thrashed Poland 3-1 to reach the quarter-final of the World Cup in Qatar.
Giroud scored the opening goal for France on 44th minute to become France’s all time highest goal scorer.
Mbappe provided the assist as he played in Giroud, who showed great determination to get to the ball before a couple of defenders and from inside the box slotted it into the bottom right corner.
Mbappe then scored France’s second goal on 74th minute. He was set free in the area by Ousmane Dembele and made no mistake with a lovely finish into the top of the net.
He made it 3-0 for France on added time and got his brace. Marcus Thuram provided Mbappe with a nice pass inside the box. It allowed him to finish with a precise effort into the top right corner.
Poland got one goal back from the penalty spot. Robert Lewandowski won the battle of wills and sent an unstoppable penalty past Hugo Lloris into the bottom left corner.
