Immediate past governor of Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi congratulated Gov. Biodun Oyebanji on Thursday over his affirmation by the election petition tribunal as the duly elected governor of Ekiti.

In a statement issued at Ado-Ekiti by Malam Ahmad Sajoh, his media aide, Fayemi said the victory was for all the people of Ekiti.

He called on opposition political parties to abandon further litigations and work with the governor for the growth and development of the state.

The former governor said he had no doubt that the June 18 gubernatorial election in the state which gave victory to Oyebanji was free and fair and would pass any judicial scrutiny.

“I congratulate the governor of Ekiti, Mr Biodun Oyebanji on his victory at the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which declared him the validly-elected governor of the state.

“Our political affiliations may be different, but we are all Ekiti people and should work together for the good of our state.

“I hope the verdict puts to rest further litigations so we can have a stable political climate in which the governor and his team can concentrate on the task of providing developmental solutions for our people.

“I congratulate the people of Ekiti for the victory is really theirs,’’ Fayemi stressed.
