Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State is boiling as massive riot has broken out in Iwo Road and others as angry youths blocked the major roads and burnt tyres over their inability to get the new naira notes.

Hundreds of angry mob took to the streets in the morning protesting the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) currency redesign policy which has impoverished Nigerians.

The ATMs are dry and banks are not issuing out new notes to Nigerians. This has spread hunger in the land as Nigerians cannot buy food or take care of themselves.

Tyres have been set on fire at the centre of Iwo Road, while other parts were blocked as the protesters were chanting war songs, demanding an immediate change to the terrible currency swap that is spreading hunger in the land.

Shops and businesses in the area have closed to avoid being attacked by angry mob. Gridlock has built up in the area following the massive protests.

Following the crisis, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde is said to have suspended his governorship campaign as anger spread in the state.
