FindMech, an innovative online Auto application, has unveiled an Auto App to link vehicle owners anywhere in Nigeria with professional automobile technicians to diagnose their vehicles or carry out repair.
It is the first of its kind in Nigeria and will operate just like Uber. With the App motorists whose vehicles break down on the road can through the app get the services of professional auto technicians to fix their vehicles.
Managing Director, FindMech, Oladipupo Akinfaye, at the official launch of the FindMech Auto App on Wednesday in Ikeja, Lagos, said the app would link vehicle owners to professional automobile technicians to diagnose and effect expertise repairs on their vehicles.
“The app is a safe, easy and convenient way to solving all automotive problems with just a click on a smart phone, tablet or computer. The app enables vehicle owners to have access to highly skilled automobile professionals in different segments of automobile industry. Vehicle owners and automobile professionals are registered on the app.
“It is a locational based app that enables vehicle owners find professionals around where they are. A vehicle owner registered on the app can easily access the services of automobile professionals within the location where he experiences vehicle break down. The app enables vehicle owners to find specialists to attend to peculiar needs of their automobiles,” he explained.
Akinfaye explained that the app allowed for swift response to automobile emergencies; wherever vehicle broke down, as there is a professional within reach to help “and he is just a phone call away after identification on the app. This will help in the reduction of traffic congestion caused by vehicle breakdown on Nigeria roads, especially, Lagos; thus, positively impacting traffic management system in the country. ”
According to him, the app is designed to help eliminate harrowing experiences faced by many vehicle owners in maintaining their vehicles due to their inability to find the right automobile technicians to service and repair their vehicles.
“FindMech Auto App is the right platform to get professional and rated automobile technicians. The technicians listed on the App are rated professionals who possess the appropriate diagnostic skills and expertise in fixing the identified vehicle problems.
“The reality in today’s automobile world is to get the appropriate diagnosis of vehicles before embarking on repairs, otherwise, it will result in series of expensive trials and errors. Quite a number of technological innovations (computerized features) have been added to modern vehicles that require specialists to handle. We have different specialists registered on our platform to handle peculiar automobile problems,” Akinfaye added.
He said users of FindMech Auto App would have the opportunities of accessing professional with qualities, such as knowledge of modern automobile technology, problem-solving skills, good diagnostic skills, all-round field knowledge, strong communications skills, good Customer Relationship Management skills, good work ethic and efficient and time-consciousness.
Akinfaye further said the FindMech App is a one-stop shop Automobile platform where one could engage the services of other auto professionals and also buy quality spare parts and vehicles.
He said other services available on the App include vehicle body repairs (Panel Beating), spray painting, automobile electrician (Rewire), cehicle AC, auto upholstery, vehicle recovery, battery jump starter and transmission services and repair.
He stated that the app would help in reducing the perennial traffic problem on roads, saying that traffic issues were often caused by vehicle breakdowns which in most cases occupied fraction of the road and that if not attended to in good time caused traffic gridlock.
“Another problem which the app will help in solving is that of quackery in the automobile repairs industry in the country. Many have lost their vehicles to the menace of quacks who parade themselves as experts. They exploit unsuspecting victims and yet find no solution to the problems of their vehicles. Only qualified and rated technicians with expertise in different brands of vehicle are listed on our Auto App,” he added.
Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Gbolahan Toriola, said the App would go a long way in solving traffic problems occasioned by vehicle breakdown on Lagos roads.
“This app will help us to quickly move the vehicle away so that it will not cause traffic. Breakdown is another problem, if you have vehicle you don’t move it away, it can cause carnage.
“When you now have an app that will help you move it out of the road, you are supposed to embrace such an app. Transport is the wheel of any country,” he added.
He appealed to mechanics and other technicians who would be using the app to do the right thing when they get customers.
Toriola said the app is not for mechanic alone, as government would work with the developer of the app to include towing of vehicles.
“Government is ready to partner with ideas, you move countries with ideas, a leader must have a vision, without it, you are dead. It will benefit you and road users,” Toriola said.
