A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ogun, Otunba Segun Sowunmi has promised to reward the executives of the party in any local government that give highest number of votes to the party in the forthcoming elections.
The governorship aspirant made the promise while speaking at a workshop he organized for members of the party that will serve as collation agents and officials of PDP and other members of the party across the 20 Local Government areas of Ogun in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the workshop held in Abeokuta, the state capital, Sowunmi urged members of PDP to go back to their various wards to tell the people why the APC government has made them to suffer and why they should return power to PDP to change the situation.
He urged them to deliver their various wards to PDP and not to be enticed by money from the opposition.
Showumi added that the PDP in Ogun has never lost to any opposition but itself because of the unending internal crisis in the state’s chapter party.
He, however, warned PDP agents to watch out for incidents of over voting on election day.
He said this is because the technology which is going to be used for the election is sensitive and any over voting will lead to cancellation of result of the particular polling unit where it occurred by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Sowunmi also hinted that the Supreme Court will decide who is the governorship candidate of PDP in Ogun before the March 11, 2023, gubernatorial election.
He said, “I want you all to go back to your wards, talk to the people, let them know PDP is not a party that loses election, there might be rancor, but it will be resolved in court.
“Go back to your ward, let our people know PDP is the party to vote for, money is not a problem, a day hunger on election day will not kill them. Let them know they should not accept money from any opposition, but they should make sure PDP wins, and when we win you know me, I am not one of those who make promise and will not fulfil it”.
“Make sure you deliver your votes to PDP wards to wards and leave everything to me.
“In fact, I promise to give any local government that deliver the largest votes to PDP, I will give such LG chairman #500,000 for a job well done.
“There are court cases in PDP now, but the court will soon deliver judgement which is going to favour me. Just bear in mind that your vote is for PDP.
“In this state, I don’t have a boss. The only boss I have is Otunba Gbenga Daniel, I am not one of those who dip their hands in campaign money.
“Vote for PDP, not for Atiku or for me, but because of the future of your children, because we are tired of these old stories of APC, let’s drive them out of office for the sake of our children.
“I did not say you should rigg or snatch box for me, but let’s mobilize ourselves to vote out APC, while voting let’s bear in mind there but not be over voting in our polling booths because if the technology INEC wants to use discovered there is over voting even if it’s one it will cancel all the votes in such polling unit.”
