In 2022, Nigerian music producer and digital creator Ogunremi David Tope, professionally known as ePianoh, openly expressed his admiration for two of Nigeria’s most influential music figures like Don Jazzy and Masterkraft describing them as key inspirations in his creative journey and long-term career vision. At this time when his career Is still evolving within the early stages of mainstream recognition, ePianoh said his focus was not just on making music only but also on learning directly from those who had already built great structures within the industry.
According to him, both Don Jazzy and Masterkraft represent different but powerful pillars of success in Nigerian music production and executive leadership.
“Looking at Don Jazzy and Masterkraft, I see two different levels of greatness. One represents structure, leadership and longevity, the other represents pure musical depth and creativity,” he noted.
The year 2022 marked a highly active period for both industry veterans. Don Jazzy continued to solidify his position as one of Africa’s most successful music executives through Mavin Records, which maintained dominance with emerging stars and consistent chart performance.
Similarly, Masterkraft remained a central figure in Nigerian music production, contributing to multiple hit records and reinforcing his reputation as one of the country’s most versatile and respected producers.
It was within this same industry climate that ePianoh said he found inspiration not from competition but from observation.
ePianoh explained that his interest in meeting both figures went beyond admiration, but was rooted in a desire for knowledge, mentorship, and exposure to higher levels of industry thinking. He described them as individuals whose journeys represent what consistency, reinvention, and excellence can produce over time.
“I would love to meet Don Jazzy and Masterkraft, not just to work with them, but to learn. I want to understand how they think, how they structure their creativity, and how they sustain success over time,” ePianoh said.
According to him, such encounters would not only influence his production skills but also reshape his understanding of business, branding, and long-term career development in music. Beyond professional aspiration, ePianoh also described the idea of meeting both industry figures as a personal milestone that is tied to his early dreams of growing within the music ecosystem.
He noted that for many young creatives, figures like Don Jazzy and Masterkraft represent what is possible when talent is combined with discipline and strategic growth. “For me, it is also a form of fulfilment. These are people you grew up watching dominate the industry. Being able to sit with them, learn from them, or even work with them is part of the dream,” he added.
In reflecting on his journey, ePianoh emphasized that inspiration from established figures remains a key part of his creative development. He noted that while admiration is important, the ultimate goal is to translate that inspiration into personal excellence. From observation, ePianoh’s focus remained on building consistency, improving his sound and positioning himself for opportunities that would eventually connect him with the industry leaders he looks up to.
