Petra Kvitova has withdrawn from next week’s Italian Open next due to an injury on her right foot.
The Czech world number 10, who won the Miami Open last month, announced on social media on Saturday.
“I will miss the beautiful site and the Italian fans, and I wish the tournament a great week,” the two-time Wimbledon champion wrote on Twitter.
She added that she hopes to recover in time for the French Open, the year’s second Grand Slam.
The Italian Open begins on Tuesday and concludes on May 20, while Roland Garros begins on May 28.
Kvitová has won 30 career singles titles, including two major titles at Wimbledon in 2011 and in 2014.
